Description

Safer Conversations Online is a free self-directed online training programme developed by SpunOut in partnership with the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention. It teaches how to have safe, supportive conversations about suicide and mental health in online environments.

The programme is particularly useful for people who support young people online — parents, youth workers, teachers, social media moderators — as well as anyone who wants to feel more confident responding to distressing content online.

What you will learn:

  • How to respond safely to distressing content or disclosures online
  • Safe messaging guidelines for suicide and mental health
  • How to start a supportive conversation online
  • What to say and what to avoid when someone is struggling
  • How to signpost to professional help

No registration is required. The programme is self-paced and can be completed from any device at any time.
