Description

safeTALK is a half-day alertness training that prepares anyone 15 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. SafeTALK-trained helpers are better able to connect people who may be at risk of suicide with life-saving intervention resources.

The programme was developed by LivingWorks and is delivered in Ireland by the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention.

What you will learn:

  • How to notice and respond to signs that a person may have thoughts of suicide
  • The TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe
  • How to connect a person at risk with a trained helper

SafeTALK does not teach in-depth intervention skills — it is an awareness-raising programme that complements ASIST. It is ideal for community members, volunteers, and anyone who wants to be better prepared to support someone who may be struggling.
