ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a 2-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. It is one of the most widely used suicide intervention programmes in the world, with over 1 million people trained.
The training prepares participants to recognise when someone may be thinking about suicide, and to connect them with immediate support. Participants learn a suicide-intervention model and apply it through practice scenarios.
What you will learn:
- Understand the attitudes, knowledge and skills needed to intervene with someone at risk
- How to have a direct, open conversation about suicide
- How to develop a safety plan with the person at risk
- How to connect the person to local follow-up resources
Full 2-day attendance is required. Training is delivered by HSE NOSP-trained facilitators. Lunch is typically provided.
