Description

This 1-day training programme is designed for anyone who works with or supports people who self-harm. It provides a thorough understanding of self-harm and equips participants with practical skills to respond in a sensitive, effective and compassionate way.

Topics covered include:

  • What self-harm is and why people self-harm
  • Common myths and misconceptions about self-harm
  • How to have a supportive conversation with someone who self-harms
  • Risk assessment and safety planning basics
  • Self-care for those supporting others
  • Local and national support resources

The training is delivered by HSE NOSP-trained facilitators and is particularly suited to youth workers, teachers, healthcare staff, social care workers, and community volunteers.
